Polish Composer's Union Awards 2018

The Presidium of the Main Board of the Polish Composers' Union at the meeting on June 20, 2018 awarded this year's Honorary Award of the Polish Composers' Union for contributions to the promotion of Polish music and (for the forth time) the Award of the Polish Composers' Union for merits in the field of music education.

The winner of the PCU Honorary Award is Lisa Jakielski – for the excellent book entitled Making New Music in Cold War Poland, published by the University of California Press in 2017, popularizing knowledge about the sources of Polish contemporary music, with particular emphasis on the role of the "Warsaw Autumn" festival in English-speaking scientific and reading circles.

The PCU Award for merits in the field of music education was awarded to Maria Magdalena Radziejowska – for outstanding achievements in managing the leading music education institution in Warsaw - State Music Schools Complex No. 1 at Miodowa Street, successfully pursuing a culture-creating mission. The Presidium of the Main Board of the Polish Composers' Union awarding this year's Educational Award would like to emphasize the role of Magdalena Radziejowska in obtaining a new headquarters for the schools "of Miodowa".

The award ceremony will take place during the 61st International Festival of Contemporary Music "Warsaw Autumn" at the headquarters of the Polish Composers' Union at the Old Town Market Square 27.
