Operalia

Jan Kiepura Masovian Musical Theater in Warsaw and Grażyna Bacewicz Musical Society in Ostrołęka invite you to the final concert of the 3rd festival "Ostrołęckie Operalia", which will take place on September 9, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the sports and entertainment hall in Ostrołęka.

The organizers wants to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the election of the Pope John Paul II. For the first time in Ostrołęka, we will hear Totus Tuus - CałyM Twój ... cantata by Jakub Milewski to Jerzy Binkowski's libretto. It was written on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima, which coincides with the 20th anniversary ofthe visit of Saint John Paul II in Podhale. The premiere took place in June 2017 in Zakopane. The title of cantata refers strictly to the motto of the Polish Pope. The capital letter M symbolizes Mary and refers to the papal coat of arms. The cantata was commissioned by the Bacewiczówna Music Society in Ostrołęka as part of the "Collections" programme – the "Composing commissions" priority, implemented by the Institute of Music and Dance.

The outstanding Polish soloists: Olga Szomańska, Edyta Krzemień, Michał Gasz and Janusz Kruciński will appear on the stage accompanied by the Witold Lutosławski Płock Symphony Orchestra and the Academic Choir of the Warsaw University of Technology. All this under the direction of the composer Jakub Milewski.
