LutosAir Quintet invites you to the concer of chamber music for wind instruments, which will take place on October 25, 2018, at 7 pm in the National Forum of Music in Wrocław. Among the works of composers inspired by the culture of the New World, we will hear compositions by Józef Świder and Kazimierz Machala.

Kazimierz Machala is a French horn player, composer, and lecturer at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. He graduated from the Juilliard School in New York and has worked as a lecturer at a number of American universities. In his piece, American Folk Suite, he makes use of many popular traditional American tunes. Another Polish work that will be performed is Mini-Quintetto (revised in 2016) by Józef Świder, a composer associated with the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice.

In Addition to the works by Polish composers, the programme will include the premiere of the latest work by Paul Preusser, 5 [+1]. The commissioning of this work was co-funded by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, as part of the programme 'Composing Commissions' realised by the Institute of Music and Dance. We will also hear Otto Respighi's Wind Quintet in G minor P. 21, Lalo Schifrin's La Nouvelle Orleans, and Kurt Weill's Ouverture, Salomon-Song, Ballade vom angenehmen Leben, Lied von der Unzulänglichkeit menschlichen Strebens, Moritat vom Mackie Messer from The Three Penny Opera (arr.  A.R. Key).
