Bydgoszcz | Missa pro pace

FP

Missa pro pace for solo voices, mixed choir and orchestra by Wojciech Kilar will be performed on October 26, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at the  Ignacy Jan Paderewski Pomeranian Philharmonic in Bydgoszcz.

The work was commissioned in 2000 by Kazimierz Kord on the occasion of the centenary of the Warsaw Philharmonic. It is Kilar's first strictly liturgical composition, received with great enthusiasm. Missa pro pace refers to musical idioms of the early Middle Ages, Baroque and Romanticism. The spiritual beauty of the composition will be reflected by the group of its performers: the legendary Poznań Nightingales conducted by Maciej Wieloch, the Pomeranian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and the renowned soloists: Marzena Michałowska (soprano), Agnieszka Rehlis (alt), Rafał Bartmiński (tenor) and Robert Gierlach (bass).

This concert is another joint project of the Pomeranian and Poznań Philharmonics and will be repeated the next day in the capital of Wielkopolska. The concert is organised under the patronage of the PWM Edition as part of the TUTTI.pl project promoting performances of Polish music.
