1st Polish Radio Chopin Festival

The first edition of Polish Radio Chopin Festival will be held on two November weekends: November 16-18 and November 24-25, 2018. The event is organized in cooperation with the Poznań Musical Theater as part of the "Chop (in) Poznań & Wielkopolska" project.

The festival will consist of five concerts. Three of them (16, 24, 25 November) will be held in Poznań, while the other two (17 and 18 November) at the Hunting Palace of the Radziwiłł Princes in Antonin, in which Chopin spent his holidays in 1827 and 1829. It was there that the composer wrote his Polonaise for cello and piano, Op. 3.

The Polish Radio Chopin Festival will open with a recital of Jan Krzysztof Broja. The next piano recital under the title "Rondo dla polacca" will feature works of Bach, Mozart and Beethoven, as well as compositions by Chopin, Tansman and Szpilman int he interpretation of Marek Bracha. In the third concert – "Magic Flutes: from Vivaldi to Górecki" – we will hear a duet of Polish flutists: Agata Kielar-Długosz and Łukasz Długosz with the accompaniment of an outstanding pianist Andrzej Jungiewicz. The concert "Between Warsaw and Modernist Poznań" will be devoted to Polish vocal lyric poetry focussing around Chopin, Moniuszko, Karłowicz, Paderewski and Nowowiejski. In the final concert, Hubert Rutkowski will present a repertoire related to the music of composers whom Chopin highly valued (Beethoven, Schumann) as well as contemporary artists. During this recital, we will hear for the first time Two Arabesques fo piano by Paweł Mykietyn's, commissioned by Polish Radio.

Admission to four out of five concerts is free. All concerts will be broadcast on Polish Radio Chopin.
