Gdańsk | In memory of Paweł Adamowicz

PFB

On January 18, 2019 at 7:00 p.m., the Polish Baltic Philharmonic will host a symphonic concert in memory of Paweł Adamowicz.

President Adamowicz was a distinguished person for the region. Gdańsk music scene, including the Polish Baltic Philharmonic, owes him a lot. Mirosław Jacek Błaszczyk, the current head of the Silesian Philharmonic, cooperating with many Polish orchestras, will conduct a concert on January 18. It will premiere a new composition by Joanna Bruzdowicz – Concerto for flute and organ written for Łukasz Długosz and Roman Perucki. Łukasz Długosz is one of the leading flutists in Poland. He has commissioned dozens of new compositions to enrich the chamber and symphonic flute repertoire. Joanna Bruzdowicz, a Polish composer who has lived in France for 50 years, wrote her new work under the programme "Composing Commissions", implemented by the Institute of Music and Dance.

On the commission of the same artists, a few years ago another concert for flute and organ was written – Bernardus Fresken by the Munich composer Enjott Schneider. Its premiere took place at the Oliwa festival two years ago, and this time it will be performed at the Polish Baltic Philharmonic. In addition, the PFB Symphony Orchestra will perform Adagio by Tomaso Albinoni and Funeral March from Symphony No. 3 "Eroica" by Ludwig van Beethoven.

Free admission cards available at ticket office, the number of places is limited (for security reasons).
