Warszawa | "Curtis on tour" Special Concert at FCUM

Sozańska Elżbieta

A special concert entitled  "Curtis on tour" will take place on May 25, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. in the concert hall of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music (2 Okólnik Street).

The unique event will take place as part of the annual concert tour "Curtis on Tour". This is the first concert of musicians from the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music from Philadelphia (USA) at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music. The Curtis Institute of Music is one of the most prestigious music universities in the world alongside the excellent Juilliard School of Music in New York. Musicians from Poland played a significant role in the establishment and development of the university over its almost century-long history – Józef Hofmann was the first rector of the institute, and among the professors there were several Polish pedagogues.

The concert will be performed by a piano quartet composed of: prof. Roberto Díaz (viola) – President of the Curtis Institute of Music, and its students – Claire Bourg (violin), Sydney Lee (cello), Daniel Hsu (piano). The programme will include Piano Quartet in C minor, Op. 15 by Gabriel Fauré and Piano Quartet in G minor, Op. 25 by Johannes Brahms.

The initiator and organizer of the "Curtis on Tour" visit in Warsaw is Ms. Elżbieta Sozańska from Philadelphia – a patron of music, a long-time director and vice-president of international pharmaceutical concerns, as well as a writer and playwright. Both the concert and the master classes run by the president of the university, prof. Robert Díaz, will be held with the financial support of the Kon-Sozański Family Foundation to commemorate Berta Zofia Kon, graduate of the FCUM in 1920.
