A virtual inauguration of the 12th edition of the Wawer Music Festival will be held on 13 December 2020 at 5.30 p.m. The concert will premiere Adam Porębski's Post-Suite, composed as part of the "Composing Commissions" programme carried out by the Institute of Music and Dance.
Wawer Music Festival, presenting "different views" on classical music, takes place in the beautiful interiors of the BOSS Hotel in Warsaw. Each edition of the Festival consists of artistic events with the participation of Polish and foreign artists, who are at the height of their fame or at its beginning. The promotion of outstandingly talented young musicians is particularly important, as for them the acclaim of the Warsaw audience becomes an excellent start for a further career. Works by Polish and foreign composers in standard and completely avant-garde arrangements, combining genres of classical music, opera, musical and jazz, reach an audience consisting not only of experienced music lovers, but also listeners who only get to know the beauty of sound. Over 300 artists from 13 countries have performed in 50 concerts so far.
The inaugural concert will be performed by the Polish Male Choir conducted by Piotr Jańczak as well as the Cracow Golden Quintet and pianist Dominika Peszko, who will premiere Adam Porębski's Post-Suite for wind quintet and piano, commissioned by the Subcarpathian Foundation for the Development of Culture.
