22nd "Colours of Poland" Touring Festival of the Łódź Philharmonic

Kolory PolskiThe 22nd Touring Festival of the Łódź Philharmonic "Colours of Poland" will run from 24 July to 29 August 2021. This year's edition includes 11 weekend concerts in historic churches in 11 different towns of the Łódź region.

The inauguration will tak place on 24 July at the early Baroque basilica of Our Lady in Gidle, which boasts a statue of Mary famous for miracles. On the festival route there will be, among others, the monastery of the Salesian priests in Lutomiersk, the church of Saint Catherine of Alexandria in Zgierz and the sanctuary of Our Lady of Charlotte, Duchess of Sieradz. The final concert will be held on 29 August in the Cathedral Basilica in Łódź.

Most of the concerts will be performed by musicians of the Łódź Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and Choir, who prepare new repertoire proposals especially for this occasion. The artists will present themselves mainly in chamber ensembles, among others, the Wind Quintet of the Łódź Philharmonic, Classic Brass Quintet, and Apertus Quartet. The programme is dominated by classical, secular and religious music, from the baroque to the modern times. We will hear works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Franz Schubert, George Gershwin and Grażyna Bacewicz.

Admission to all concerts is free, but due to epidemiological restrictions it is necessary to collect a free invitation.
