Warsaw | Final of the 2nd Hashtag Ensemble Young Academy

HashtagLab 20 4 24Media patronage: Polish Music Information Centre POLMIC

For the second time, students playing violin, cello, viola and double bass took part in the free Hashtag Ensemble Young Academy workshop. At the end of the workshop, they will perform at the final concert at the Hashtag Lab on the 20th of April 2024 at 2 p.m. and receive diplomas!

Music school students are very rarely exposed to contemporary music. Thanks to the Young Hashtag Ensemble Academy, which was created by violinist Marta Piórkowska, first- and second-degree music school students found out that new music means a lot of interesting works and mysterious performance techniques. Beginning in October, a group of nine students met on Saturday mornings to learn new repertoire, to hum in chamber ensembles, and to improvise without fear of evaluation.

Olsztyn | „Conductor-resident”: Martyna Zych and Aleksandra Świgut in the Warmian-Masurian Philharmonic

DyrygentRezydent 19 4 24Martyna Zych's conductor residency at the Warmian-Masurian Feliks Nowowiejski Philharmonic in Olsztyn in the 2023/24 season is underway as part of the National Institute of Music and Dance "Conductor - resident" programme. On the 19th of April at 7 p.m. in the Philharmonic Concert Hall, as part of the residency, there will be a concert featuring Czech and Polish music. Aleksandra Świgut, an excellent pianist and lecturer at the Fryderyk Chopin Music University, will perform as a soloist.

The artists will perform the immortal Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor, Op. 11 by Fryderyk Chopin. Much has been written about this work - not least because it is one of the few works that our national piano poet composed for a symphony orchestra.

There will also be three dances from the opera The Bartered Bride by Bedřich Smetana - the elegant and delicate Polka, the joyful Furiant and the lively and at the same time surprising Skočna - and the Sinfonietta by Leoš Janáček, which he himself called "military".
