The Kalisz Philharmonic promotes young and talented musicians. On 12 March 2021 at 7.30 p.m. saxophonist Łukasz Dyczko and the Kalisz Philharmonic String Orchestra will perform works by Mikołaj Piotr Górecki and Feliks Janiewicz during "Concerto Notturno" – a concert organised together with PWM Edition as part of the TUTTI.pl programme.
Łukasz Dyczko believes that "the instrument helps to express the personality of each artist". He plays the saxophone with great passion and skill: two years ago, as the third Pole in history, he won the final of the 18th Eurovision Competition for Young Musicians in Cologne. This success resulted in a nomination for "Polityka's" Passport (2016) in the "Classical Music" category and for the "Coryphaeus of Polish Music" (2016) in the "Debut of the Year" category.
Concerto Notturno, or the night concert, is the title of the upcoming concert and also a title of the piece by Mikołaj Piotr Górecki. Composed for string orchestra and saxophone, Concerto-Notturno is a kind of musical contemplation of the night landscape. The composer evokes the impression of a vast space flooded with fleeting light and an aura of peace and quiet. The musicians of the Kalisz Philharmonic under the direction of Paweł Kotla will also perform Mikołaj Piotr Górecki's Divertimento. Moreover, the concert programme will include Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Serenade in G major KV 525, known as "Eine kleine Nachtmusik", and Feliks Janiewicz's Divertimento, to show the historical context of works devoted to the theme of the night.
