Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk invites you to participate in the Composition Competition "Duet for viola and another instrument or viola and tape/computer". The competition is intended for students of composition classes at Polish music academies. The deadline for submitting works is the 20^th of May, 2024.

The subject of the Competition is to compose a duet for viola and another instrument or viola and tape/computer. Duration of the composition: from 4 to 8 minutes (form of choice).

Each composer may submit any number of works. Competition works must be submitted anonymously.

The winning composition will be premiered during the 13^th EURO Chamber Music Festival Gdansk 2024. Moreover, Rector funded the main prize of PLN 1,500 gross for the competition winner.

Oskar Kolberg 1^st degree Music School in Raciechowice announces the 3^rd Antoni Cofalik Violin and Viola Competition, which will take place on June 13-15, 2024. The deadline for submitting applications is the 13^th of May.

The competition is open to violinists and violists born after the 31^st of December, 2007.

The compulsory programme of the Competition includes works by Polish composers, including miniatures by Antoni Cofalik from the collections W zoo, W cyrku and Ptaszarnia.

Prof. Antoni Cofalik will be the chairman of the jury.

All participants of the Competition will receive diplomas of participation. Prizes will be awarded to the winners. A special prize will be awarded for the best performed piece by Antoni Cofalik. The culmination of the Competition will be the Winners' Concert, which will take place in the Concert Hall in Raciechowice.

Dwuetapowe przesłuchania XII Międzynarodowego Konkursu Wiolonczelowego im. Witolda Lutosławskiego, reaktywowanego po pandemicznej przerwie, zakończą się finałowymi w dniach 10 i 11 maja w Filharmonii Narodowej o godz. 19.00. Gala wręczenia nagród będzie miała miejsce również w Filharmonii Narodowej 12 maja o godz. 18.00. Wstęp na koncerty finalistów i laureatów jest biletowany.

Międzynarodowy Konkurs Wiolonczelowy im. Witolda Lutosławskiego jest uważany za jeden z najbardziej prestiżowych konkursów dla młodych wiolonczelistów do 30 roku życia. Ocenia ich międzynarodowe jury w składzie: Roman Jabłoński, przewodniczący jury (Polska, Hiszpania), Mindaugas Bačkus (Litwa), Andrzej Bauer, Magdalena Bojanowicz, Tomasz Strahl, Marcin Zdunik (Polska), Henri Demarquette (Francja), Roel Dieltiens (Belgia), Anssi Karttunen (Finlandia), Yuri Laniuk (Ukraina), Jens Peter Maintz (Niemcy).

On the 9^th of May, 2024 at 18:30 the Łomża Chamber Philharmonic invites you to a unique concert: the excellent flutist Hanna Turonek will perform not only on the transverse flute, but also on many other exotic flutes. The concert will also feature the world premiere of Georgian Rhapsody by contemporary composer Mikołaj Hertel.

The orchestra will be led by the Italian conductor Vittorio Parisi, a student of Kirill Kondrashin, artistic director and chief conductor of the Dédalo Ensemble in Brescia.

The European Center Memory, Education, Culture invites you to a unique concert of the Berlin duo Kermani-Gentili (Kymia Kermani, clarinet, and Alba Gentili-Tedeschi, piano), as part of the project "Berge unterwegs zum Mond" (Mountains on the way to the moon) on the 8^th of May 2024 at 5 p.m., the Polish premiere of works by Magdalena Buchwald, Joanna Stępalska-Spix, Gabriela Moyseowicz and Ida Gotkowsky will be performed.

The project, presenting Polish-German musical connections in Berlin, Hamburg, Karlsruhe and Görlitz / Zgorzelec, was created with the support of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Media (BKM), the Foundation for Polish-German Cooperation and the Ilse Foundation and Dr. Horst Rusch.

During the concert in Zgorzelec, we will hear for the first time Transitiones by Magdalena Buchwald (composed especially for this occasion), Zur Erinnerung by Joanna Stępalska-Spix arranged by Barbara Heller for clarinet and piano, Duo für Uli und Tina Metz by Gabriela Moyseowicz and Image de Norvège by Ida Gotkowsky.

We will also hear works by Krystyna Moszumańska-Nazar, Agata Zubel, Krzysztof Penderecki, Witold Lutosławski, Fryderyk Chopin, Tadeusz Baird, Grażyna Bacewicz and Zbigniew Rudziński.
