Archipelag Witkacy

Ar9 listopada 2018 roku o godz. 19:00 w Dalles Hall w Bukareszcie Grupa Kawalerowie Błotni zaprezentuje spektakl inter-medialny Archipelag Witkacy nawiązujący do twórczości Witkacego. Autorem scenariusza i kierownikiem muzycznym jest dyrektor Festiwalu „Warszawska Jesień” Jerzy Kornowicz.

Utwór stanowi intermedialny traktat odnoszący się do twórczości wielkiego artysty i wizjonera Stanisława Ignacego Witkiewicza – jednej z najważniejszych postaci pierwszej polskiej i europejskiej awangardy. Wszystkie ewokacje wyrażają sprzeciw Witkacego wobec systemów społecznych limitujących człowieka w jego przeżywaniu świata, stanowią wołanie o życie pełne, z otwartością poznawczą i konstytuującym człowieka przeżyciem metafizycznym. Przywoływanie Portretu wielokrotnego stanowi wyraz splotu kilku osobowości – warstw psychologicznych obecnych w konstrukcji wewnętrznej człowieka. Daje wyraz niejednoznaczności poznawczej, tajemnicy istotności, której tylko dotykamy powierzchownie. Z kolei aspekt formalny utworu odnosi się do owej Witkiewiczowskiej „czystej formy”.

Spektakl inter-medialny w wykonaniu Grupy Kawalerowie Błotni (6 improwizujących muzyków: Jerzy Kornowicz, Krzysztof Knittel. Ryszard Latecki, Mieczysław Litwiński, Tadeusz Sudnik, Tadeusz Wielecki) oraz Adama Kruka (projekcja obrazu) i Andrzeja Kijanowskiego (projekcja dźwięku) został zaprezentowany 20 października 2018 roku we Lwowie podczas Międzynarodowego Festiwalu „Kontrasty”.

Gdańsk | Michał Dobrzyński's "Tango" at the Baltic Opera

Tango

On 26, 27 and 28 October 2018 Michał Dobrzyński's Tango opera with libretto based on the drama by Sławomir Mrożek will be staged at the Baltic Opera in Gdańsk.

One of the most important Polish dramas, Tango by Sławomir Mrożek, has been translated to the language of opera by Michał Dobrzyński, acclaimed Polish composer of contemporary music. Mrożek's drama, a multi-faceted work full of nuances, has been divided into parts and put together again – this time, however, the center of gravity was transferred from the text to the verbal-musical layer. The work acquired new meanings and became a completely new story, which does not deviate from the assumptions of Mrożek's original.

The world premiere of Tango, directed by Maciej Wojtyszko and performed under the direction of José Maria Florêncio, took place in December 2017 at the Warsaw Chamber Opera. The work was received enthusiastically by the audience, and one of the Polishc most important theater portal (teatrdlawas.pl) awarded the composer with the honorable "Opera Glare of the Year 2017" in the "best music" category. In addition, countertenor Jan Jakub Monowid, who plays the main role in the opera (Artur), was honored in the " best role" category. On October 22, 2018, Dobrzyński's opera was staged at the Estonian National Opera.

Tango is a production of the Warsaw Chamber Opera. Tthe project was co-financed from the funds of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage as part of the "Collections – Composing Commisions" programe, carried out by the Institute of Music and Dance.

The 13th edition of the "Ad Libitum" festival will focus on the greate and often insufficiently appreciated ladies of the international music scene.

Among the invited guests – legendary pianist Irene Schweitzer, fascinating violinist and vocalist Iva Bittová, and phenomenal: Lauren Newton, Nicole Mitchell, Joëlle Léandre and Myra Melford. We will also hear artists of the younger generation, like Sophie Agnel. The festival workshop group, composed of the musicians of the Cracow Improvisers Orchestra of Paulina Owczarek especially for this edition of the festival, will be led by Charlotte Hug – violinist-performer and lecturer at the Hochschule der Künste, Zürich.
