The history of the Marian Church Organ, the organ of Cracow’s most famous church, dates back to the 15th century. In mid-19th century, after the destruction of the “royal organ”, the other instrument (at the Western choir) was successively rebuilt and extended. To-day, it is an instrument of superior quality, both musically and architectonically.
Stefański excellently demonstrates the full sound of the 56-stop organ with his playing. The selected compositions lead us through the history of organ music from the Baroque (Bach’s masterly works) to the Romantic Mendelssohn Sonata and 20th-century Polish music - Feliks Nowowiejski and Krystyna Moszumańska-Nazar.
