10th Music Festival “THREE-FOUR. Contexts. Contrasts. Confrontations”
The 10th Jubilee Edition of the Music Festival “TRZY-CZTE-RY. Contexts. Contrasts. Confrontations” will take place at the Witold Lutosławski Polish Radio Concert Studio in Warsaw from November 15 to December 6, 2025. The program will include world premieres of works by Paweł Szymański and Ignacy Zalewski.
The opening concert will feature music spanning from the Baroque to the 20th century, showcasing an extraordinary richness of color and emotion. Performing will be AUKSO – the Tychy City Chamber Orchestra conducted by Marek Moś, with cellist Andrzej Bauer as soloist.
As part of the “Young Trampoline” series on November 16, the stage will belong to the most promising young artists, students of distinguished teachers affiliated with the festival.
The third evening will immerse listeners in the world of classical elegance, romantic expression, and chamber depth, featuring the Royal String Quartet and pianist Maciej Piszek.
The November 23 concert will explore the wealth of 20th-century chamber music, juxtaposed with the classical legacy of Beethoven and Schubert. The evening opens with the recently rediscovered Octet Op. 28 by Paweł Klecki – a youthful yet mature work brimming with interwar neoclassical energy and elegance – followed by René Leibowitz’s Suite pour 9 instruments Op. 81, receiving its Polish premiere.
The premiere concert on November 27 will bridge contemporary music and the legacy of Andrzej Czajkowski, marking the 90th anniversary of his birth. The program begins with the world premiere of A Violin’s Tale by Paweł Szymański, featuring Dorota Anderszewska, a violinist known for her sensitivity and precision. Next comes the first performance of Concerto grosso for Three Violas and Orchestra by Ignacy Zalewski, with Katarzyna Budnik, Mateusz Doniec, and Tomasz Rosiński as soloists. The evening concludes with Andrzej Czajkowski’s Piano Concerto No. 2, Op. 4, performed by Radosław Kurek with Szymon Bywalec conducting.
On November 30, a concert of subtle expression and lyrical beauty will bring together voice, violin, clarinet, and piano, performed by Olga Pasiecznik, Aleksandra Świgut, Jarosław Nadrzycki, and Andrzej Ciepliński.
The December 5 recital will be devoted entirely to one of the great masterpieces of the Baroque era – J.S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations BWV 988, performed by Marcin Świątkiewicz.
The grand finale concert on December 6 with the Polish Radio Orchestra in Warsaw will crown the festival with a musical journey through diverse styles and eras – from Debussy’s impressionistic poetry of sound to the monumental energy of Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra.
A special concert on December 7 will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the magazine Ruch Muzyczny through music of the highest artistry — featuring vocal and piano duets performing works by Stefan Kisielewski and Zygmunt Mycielski: Joanna Freszel & Bartłomiej Kominek, and Tomasz Konieczny & Lech Napierała.
After each concert, discussion panels with the artists will be moderated by Marcin Gmys, Marcin Majchrowski, Aleksandra Bilińska-Słomkowska, Mariusz Gradowski, and Michał Bruliński.
