On the 20th of December, 2022 at 19.00 at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, during the concert on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the New Music Orchestra directed by Szymon Bywalec, the world premiere of Zbigniew Bargielski's Sonoralia will take place.
This work was written especially for the New Music Orchestra and Szymon Bywalec, and its commission is related to the 85th birthday of Zbigniew Bargielski and the 25th anniversary of the New Music Orchestra's artistic activity. Composition was co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund - a state special purpose fund, as part of the ‘Composers' Commissions’ programme implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
The New Music Orchestra will also present works whose creators draw on the music of the past, but dress it in a completely modern sound design: Per Nørgård's Bach to the Future for two percussions and a small orchestra, Le voci sottovetro for soprano and ensemble by Salvatore Sciarrino and Święty Boże, Święty Mocny by Artur Zagajewski.
