Programme of the concert of the NFM Wrocław Philharmonic on the 2nd of December, 2022 at 19.00, conducted by the French conductor Pascal Rophé will consist of two masterpieces written by the conductor's fellow-countrymen and an organ concert by Elżbieta Sikora. Before the concert (at 18.15) we invite you to the ceremonial unveiling of a plaque commemorating the co-operation of Elżbieta Sikora with the Witold Lutosławski National Forum of Music in Wrocław.
Elżbieta Sikora's Oliwa Concerto, premiered in the Oliwa Cathedral in 2007, is an expressive and somewhat dark piece in which the virtuoso part of the organ is contrasted with the brilliantly sounding orchestra. The solo part in this work will be performed by the Japanese virtuoso Mari Fukumoto.
We will also hear the Sorcerer's Apprentice by Paul Dukas and Symphony Fantastique Op. 14 by Hector Berlioz.
At 17.15 before the concert a lecture by Tateo Nakajima ‘Music and Acoustics’ will also take place.
