Gdańsk | "Tuesdays on the Wave"

Opera Bałtycka

The Baltic Opera in Gdańsk invites you on 20 October 2020 at 7.00 p.m. to the inauguration of the "Tuesdays on the wave" concert series.

"Tuesdays on the wave" is a series of three meetings with Polish music culture of the interwar period. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Poland’s Wedding to the Sea, selected artists of the Baltic Opera will present contemporary interpretations of chamber works by Karol Szymanowski, Ludomir Różycki and Grażyna Bacewicz.

In October, November and December, we invite you to chamber concerts in the foyer of the Baltic Opera. It is a space that differs from the stage by blurring the line between performers and the audience. The heritage of Polish composers has left an impact on opera culture around the world. "Tuesdays on the wave" is an attempt to popularize both the output of the interwar period and the skills of artists who undertake its contemporary interpretations.

The "Tuesdays on the Wave" series was co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage as part of the "Music" programme carried out by the Institute of Music and Dance.

Warsaw | The New Music Scene 2020

NTA cycle of Chain Ensemble concerts entitled "The New Music Scene", presenting important musical achievements from the past few decades, will take place between 20 October and 15 December 2020 in the Nowy Theatre in Warsaw.

Programme of the cycle organized by the Witold Lutosławski Society includes four concerts: "Ró meaning calm", "Travels and 'travels'"," Musica Pura from Austria "and" Renaissance and Baroque today ". We will hear works by composers from all over the world, including pieces by Polish composers: Artur Kroschel, Witold Szalonek and Paweł Mykietyn.

The upcoming concert on 20 October at 7.00 p.m. will feature Fracture by Artur Kroschel, Poco a Poco by Alex Mincek,  by Anna Thorvaldsdottir and Hot by Fran Donatoni. As the organisers point out, "Peace – not as relaxation – but as fully at-ease focus – is a shared space for the October concert by Chain Ensemble. Careful movement across fragile territory which is the stage of fullness, constantly achieved and destabilised anew. And in addition the brilliance of these semi real, semi magical phenomena emerging from the composers' imaginations means that Ró meaning calm is not just practice at paying attention (vide the notorious notion of mindfulness), but also exciting musical explorations".
