Paweł Łukaszewski's Concerto for accordion and string orchestra will be premiered on 15 October 2020 at 6:30 p.m. in the Regional Culture Centre in Łomża by outstanding accordionist Klaudiusz Baran.

Concerto for accordion and string orchestra is a version of Łukaszewski's Concerto for organ and string orchestra from 1996. The piece consists of three contrasting movements, of which – as the composer himself notes – the extreme ones aim at showing the virtuosity of the soloist, while the middle one is based on the cantilena melody Exsultet, which Łukaszewski heard during the Easter Triduum liturgy in the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Rouen performed by Archbishop Joseph Duval.

Musicians of the Witold Lutosławski Chamber Philharmonic in Łomża will be conducted by Huba Hollókői, winner of the 1st Prize in the 2nd Giancarlo Facchinetti International Conducting Competition in Brescia. The solo part will be performed by Klaudiusz Baran – an accordionist who performs diverse repertoire, but is especially appreciated for interpretations of new music. The artist has premiered over 50 solo, chamber and orchestral works, most of which were dedicated to him or inspired by him.

Paweł Łukaszewski is one of the most awarded Polish composers, a ten-time winner of the "Fryderyk" music award. His work has gained a significant position in Europe, the USA and Canada. Łukaszewski's works are performed and premiered by renowned choirs, including from London and Cambridge.

7 października 2020 odbyła się konferencja dla nauczycieli gry na instrumentach smyczkowych „Young Arts. Muzyka & Edukacja 3.0”. Wydarzenie było w całości poświęcone praktycznym aspektom zdalnej edukacji muzycznej, a otworzył je panel na temat zmian obyczajowych w muzyce, które wywołała pandemia.

Dyskusję otwierającą konferencję poprowadził Maxymilian Bylicki z Instytutu Muzyki i Tańca, a udział w niej wzięli przedstawiciele najważniejszych instytucji odpowiedzialnych za kulturę i edukację artystyczną: Agnieszka Hejduk-Domańska – zastępca dyrektora Departamentu Szkolnictwa Artystycznego i Edukacji Kulturalnej Ministerstwa Kultury i Dziedzictwa Narodowego, Katarzyna Dziurdzikowska – wicedyrektor Centrum Edukacji Artystycznej. Głos środowiska szkolnych placówek muzycznych reprezentowała prof. Katarzyna Sokołowska, wicedyrektor Zespołu Państwowych Szkół Muzycznych nr 1 w Warszawie. Tematem rozmowy były zmiany obyczajowe wywołane przez pandemię w świecie muzyki oraz wyzwania i szanse, jakie daje kulturze nauczanie online. Podczas konferencji została również krótko zaprezentowana nowa platforma edukacyjna Young Arts Kids, której misją jest umożliwianie dostępu do edukacji muzycznej wszystkim, którzy chcą rozwijać swoje umiejętności pod opieką wybitnych nauczycieli, oraz możliwość kontynuowania edukacji w okresie ewentualnych ograniczeń pandemicznych. „Sytuacja pandemii zmieniła świat muzyki. Wszyscy teraz muszą odnaleźć się w rzeczywistości, kiedy nie ma możliwości występów na żywo. O wiele trudniejsze jest obecnie realizowanie edukacji artystycznej dzieci” – powiedział na wstępie dyskusji Maxymilian Bylicki.

The Adam Mickiewicz Institute invites young Polish composers to take part in the open call for the Royal Scottish National Orchestra Composers' Hub 2020.

Aimed at composers in the early stages of their career, the RSNO Composers’ Hub is a fantastic opportunity to write for orchestra in a range of different contexts, develop skills and creative relationships, as well as acquiring an understanding of the business of a major arts organisation.

Now in its sixth year, up to five emerging UK-based composers and one Polish composer will be chosen to join the Composers’ Hub and spend the 2020:21 season with the RSNO. In order to reflect the current challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Composers’ Hub will function differently. The Composers’ Hub members will still have the incredible opportunity of writing a work for the RSNO, but, additionally, each composer will work closely with a few members of the RSNO to discuss ideas and techniques and to develop a short piece for those musicians. Out of these meetings, each composer will write a seven to ten-minute piece for full symphony. Online coaching sessions will commence in October 2020. An in person induction will be held in January 2021, with further digital mentorship sessions taking place between January 2021 and June 2021. The scheme will culminate in a public workshop in the RSNO Centre in Glasgow, June 2021, from which one work will be chosen to be performed in the RSNO’s 2021:22

Composers must submit a CV, a one-page letter explaining how they will benefit from the scheme and two examples of their own compositions. One-page letter and CV should be in English. Composition examples should be sent with PDFs of scores (preferably at least one for full orchestra) and sound samples. MIDI files or similar are acceptable where recordings are unavailable. Światłodźwięki 2020 is the fifth edition of the audiovisual art festival which aims to present the most important productions of the European and Polish artistic environment that work to fuse the visual and musical areas of art into one integral aesthetic experience. The festival will take place on 16-17 October 2020 in the newly renovated Zamek Culture Centre in Poznań.

The organizers underline that the impressions that the audience will be prone to perceive is "the synesthetic experience of experimental music and visualizations." It is vital that all the interdisciplinary art presented during the festival is created entirely live, based on new conceptions, and is founded on the presumption that both light and sound influence the other element in real time.

Światłodźwięki is concerts, a jam session and lecture-presentations, during which visual artists and musician-scientists will tell the public about the newest trends in European art and about the ever-growing connections between art, IT and architecture; new paths towards which art never ceases to push mankind will be presented. This year, the artists sharing their insights will be the Slovakian composer Marián Zavarský and the Spanish media artist, Marti Guillem Ciscar. The concerts will feature excellent performers and composers, including saxophonist and composer Michał Fetler, composer and percussionist Rafał Gorzycki, clarinetist and improviser Piotr Mełech and composer and pianist Jakub Królikowski – artistic director of the Festival, winner of the Main Prize at the Marek Stachowski Competition for Young Composers (2018).

All the events are free to attend, and do not require a reservation.
