The "Experimental Tuesdays" series taking place as part of the Sinfonia Varsovia To Its City 2020 Festival will end with the performance of the Small Instruments ensemble. The latest works by Paweł Romańczuk will be premiered on 25 August 2020 at 8.00 p.m. on the stage at 272 Grochowska street.

"Experimental Tuesdays", a new series of contemporary music concerts, examine the relationship between music and nature as well as respond to the challenges of modernity, including man’s influence on the environment, the climate crisis, the progressing digitization of life, the lack of algorithmic transparency, and the lack of internet privacy.

The Small Instruments ensemble based in Wrocław and founded by Paweł Romańczuk became famous for exploring new sounds using a wide array of small instruments. The instruments used in their sonic experiments feature an ever expanding array of professional instruments, sound toys made for children or naive in nature, strange musical inventions as well as a whole array of small items that aren't really instruments but do make a sound. Small Instruments recycle not only the materials from which sound structures are built, but also the tradition of classical music. At the concert as part of the festival organized by Sinfonia Varsovia, the ensemble will perform works by Igor Stravinsky, Erik Sati and Dmitri Shostakovich. We will hear instruments and playing mechanisms built by Paweł Romanczuk himself, among others. in his works Szemrzą te bory from the album Samoróbka and Stone's dances. We will also hear the first performance of compositions created along with new constructions.

The meeting with the artists after the concert will be hosted by Wioleta Żochowska, curator of the series.

This year's series of online concerts of contemporary music "Ars Moderna", organised by Spółdzielnia Muzyczna contemporary ensemble, Kraków Philharmonic and Dworek Białoprądnicki Culture Centre, will last until 19 October 2020.

The artists' performances, almost exclusively solo or in a duet, are intended to illustrate the past six months, which each musician experienced differently while practicing their instruments. The programme of the first five concerts included already existing compositions, works by Bogusław Schaeffer, Hanna Kulenty, Adam Walaciński and Piotr Peszat. The last concert will feature works of the winners  of the "Synchronized" composers' competition.

During the concerts, musical reflections will be confronted with the views of the ensemble's friends who will act as moderators. Krzysztof Pietraszewski and Mateusz Ciupka will not only comment on the music played live, but also confront it with the reactions of the Internet audience. The audience is invited to listen and comment – to exchange experiences.

The next online workshop for young musicians as part of the "Don't be afraid to improvise!" series will take place on 24-27 August 2020. Online classes will be held in two groups (at 4.00 p.m. and 5.30 p.m.) under the supervision of outstanding composers and improvisers: Krzesimir Dębski and Jarosław Siwiński.

The organizers' goal is for as many children and teenagers as possible to experience improvisation. Therefore, this time, the Art Deco Group Music Agency invites blind or partially sighted young musicians from 7 to 15 years of age learning to play any instruments at music schools or institutions that conduct music classes to participate in the workshop. Two groups of participants will work with famous artists.

The workshops are free and will be held online every day from 24 to 27 August. Each cycle includes 4 classes (approx. 45 minutes each) and 1 mini concert (approx. 40 minutes) presenting the effects of the work with participants. The final concert will take place in September and will be broadcast on the FB profile and the website of the Art Deco Group Music Agency.

During the workshops, the artists will talk to children about contemporary music as well as rules and methods of improvisation, illustrating these themes with musical examples. They will conduct exercises and games that will help children absorb the transferred knowledge more easily. In this project, it is very important to make music together and collaborate in a group, so children will participate in classes with their instruments and will actively improvise under the guidance of the teachers.

The workshop group will have a maximum of 5 participants. The "Czas Sztuki" Foundation invites you to two concerts that will inaugurate the third edition of the series "Masovian Musical Meetings without Barriers" on 23 and 25 August 2020.

The "Czas Sztuki" Foundation was established in November 2017 and one of its main goals is the organization of free artistic events for poor people from small rural towns, who are excluded from participating in cultural life. The organization has already conducted two series of concerts "Mazovian Musical Meetings without Barriers" in 2018 and 2019. The third edition of the series will feature 8 concerts, which will take place in very small towns in the counties of Minsk, Siedlce and Węgrów, where residents are deprived of cultural offer and access to cultural goods.

The first concert will take place on Sunday, 23 August at 7.00 p.m. on the open-air stage of the Kulturoteka Commune Public Library in Cegłów. The Time Quartet will perform the most beautiful classical compositions by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy and Ludwig van Beethoven, whose 250th birthday is celebrated this year by the whole world.

The second concert will take place on Tuesday, 25 August at 5.00 p.m. at the "Reymontówka" Creative Work House in Chlewiska. The concert will feature accordionists Klaudiusz Baran – Rector of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, Rafał Grząka and violinist Maksymilian Grzesiak. The programme will include compositions by Antonio Vivaldi, Astor Piazzolla, Henryk Wieniawski, Andrzej Krzanowski and Leon Boellmann.
