Concert of the Polish Radio Choir "Navigatio. Ars. Ut oratio sit domina harmonie"

The next concert of the Polish Radio Choir from the "Navigatio" series will take place on 30 June 2020 at 7.30 p.m. and will be streamed live on the Polish Radio Choir and Polish Radio S.A. YouTube channels and –  a day later –  on Polish Radio Channel 2.

The Polish Radio Choir inaugurated its new concert series "Navigatio" – currently held online due to the pandemic – a few weeks ago with a concert entitled "Navigatio. Amor. Chopin's Birthday". The motto of the series refers to the Latin word for travel, journey, which is a metaphor of life. During the upcoming concert "Navigatio. Ars. Ut oratio sit domina harmonie" the Choir under the direction of its artistic director Maria Piotrowska-Bogalecka will perform works inspired by the poetry of Robert Herrick, George Crabbe, John Clare, Guillaume Apollinaire, Paul Éluard, Kazimierz Przerwa-Tetmajer and Czesław Miłosz. We will hear choral works of Ernest Krenek, Benjamin Britten, Francis Poulenc, Pēteris Vasks, Camille Saint-Saëns and Maciej Małecki. The concert will also feature a selection of poems presented by an actor of the Stary Theatre in Kraków, Radosław Krzyżowski.

Warsaw | "Pinokrąg" concert series by Bartłomiej Wąsik

A new concert series "Pianokrąg" will be inaugurated by pianist and arranger Bartek Wąsik on 28 June at 6.00 p.m. in the Sculpture Park in Królikarnia. The programme of four chamber meetings will include compositions by Max Richter, Radiohead, Philip Glass and Wąsik himself.

On the one hand, the name of the series refers to the word horizon – the line at which the earth's surface and the sky appear to meet. On the other hand, it introduces the idea of ​​participating in a circle, in a community, in this case gathered around one instrument – the piano.

The programme of the series includes enchanting miniatures by Max Richter, original arrangements of Radiohead's songs, mesmerizing compositions by Philip Glass, and finally the premiere of the solo project of Bartek Wąsik. The pianist will perform in the Sculpture Park in Królikarnia, where the audience will be able to listen to the concert while walking around the park, sitting or lying on the grass and maintaining the social distance.

All concerts will be streamed live by the National Film Archive – Audiovisual Institute (FINA) on its Facebook page, and the recordings will be then available on the Ninateka website.

Szamotuły | 11th Philippe and Xaver Scharwenka Festival

The 11th11th Philippe and Xaver Scharwenka Festival will take place at the Górka Castle Museum in Szamotuły between 27 June and 31 August 2020.

Due to the epidemiological situation, the organizers have made every effort to ensure that this important summer event in Greater Poland region is safe for the public. Festival concerts will be broadcast live on the Pro Cello Foundation Facebook page.

The programme of the event includes compositions by Scharwenka brothers and chamber music masters: Fryderyk Chopin, Henryk Wieniawski, Ignacy Jan Paderewski, as well as Edvard Elgar, Johannes Brahms and Sergei Rachmaninoff. The final concert will be accompanied by the promotion of the book Franz Xaver Scharwenka. The Sounds of my Life – Musician's Memories. Admission to all concerts is free.

The Festival will also feature the 16th Cello Master Course. Classes will be held at the Tadeusz Szeligowski Primary Music School No. 2 in Poznań and online with teachers residing abroad.

The Stanisław Moniuszko Warsaw Music Society and Radziejowice Castle invite you to a series of summer concerts that will take place from 27 June to 15 August 2020 in Radziejowice.

The concerts with the audience will be streamed online. Among the performers of the inaugural "Chamber Masters' Concert" on 27 June at 7.00 p.m. will be world-famous Polish musicians: violinist Konstanty Andrzej Kulka and cellist Tomasz Strahl. They will present Polish Caprice by Grażyna Bacewicz, Caprice No. 1 by Karol Lipiński, Sei capriccios by Henryk Hubertus Jabłoński, Sonata-fantasia by Maciej Małecki, as well as Duo in C major for violin and cello by Ludwig van Beethoven, Passacaglia in G minor by Johan August Halvorsen and Hungarian Dances by Béla Bartók.

The following concerts will feature pianists Janusz Olejniczak, Paweł Kowalski and Hanna Holeksa, violinist Katarzyna Duda and actor Jarosław Gajewski. We will hear works by Fryderyk Chopin, Henryk Wieniawski, Karol Szymanowski, Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Ludwig van Beethoven, as well as fragments of John Paul II's 10th encyclical Veritatis splendor.

Toruń | 24th "Nova Music and Architecture" International Festival

The 24th "Nova Music and Architecture" International Festival will highlight interesting elements of Toruń architecture by running artistic events in various parts of the city. 16 different projects will be held between 26 June and 5 September: symphony and chamber concerts, a film projection with live music and a photo exhibition.

The idea of ​​the Festival, which is organized by the Toruń Symphony Orchestra, is to present music in both the historical and modern interiors of Toruń architecture. This year's edition will feature concerts combining symphony and popular music, among others "One, Two, Three Symphonic", "Beethoven Electric 2D", concerts commemorating such important events as the 100th birth anniversary of Pope John Paul II, the 100th anniversary of the Miracle on the Vistula, the Polish Army Day and the 100th anniversary of Toruń's return to free Poland. The programme will include well-known works by Edvard Grieg, George Bizet, Gioachino Rossini and Giuseppe Verdi as well as compositions of Polish composers: Mikołaj from Kraków, Jan Podbielski, Fryderyk Chopin, Henryk Wieniawski, Mieczysław Surzyński, Gustaw Roguski, Karol Szymanowski, Wojciech Kilar, Krzysztof Baculewski and Grażyna Pstrokońska-Nawratil. We will also witness the first performance of Iwona Kisiel's Once Upon the See 2 for 2 flutes and harpsichord. Violin recitals will be a unique opportunity hear the winners of the 5th Karol Lipiński International Violin Festival and Competition: Elias David Moncado and Robert Łaguniak. The festival finale will feature opera works performed by outstanding Lithuanian soloists and the Toruń Symphony Orchestra conducted by Dainius Pavilionis.

"Hommage a Penderecki" in the series "Krakow Philharmonic at Your Home!"

A concert in "Hommage a Krzysztof Penderecki" will take place on 28 June 2020 at 6.00 p.m. in the "Krakow Philharmonic at Your Home" series, co-financed from the "Culture on the Web" programme of the National Centre for Culture.

The concert will be performed by musicians of the Krakow Philharmonic Orchestra percussion group and percussionsts collaborating with the institution. It will be led by Ryszard Haba – the first timpanist of the Krakow Philharmonic Orchestra, founder of the Haba Percussion Group and originator of the "Meetings with percussion music", which have been organised at the Krakow Philharmonic for over a decade.

We will hear Three pieces in old style, originally written for string quintet, but this time presented in an extraordinary instrumentation: three sets of orchestra bells, vibraphone and five-octave marimba (arranged by Ryszard Haba). Penderecki's Song of Cherubim, originally intended for mixed choir, will be performed on Burmese and Javanese gongs, symphonic bells, marimbas, vibraphones and crotales. In total, twelve human voices have been replaced by 12 melodic percussion instruments. The programme will also include Ryszard Haba's Capriccio per Tubaphone e strumenti percussione, which was composed under the influence of Krzysztof Penderecki's music for a new instrument invented by the author – the tubaphone.

The "Krakow Philharmonic at your home!" is an initiative aimed at maintaining the continuity of the cultural offer of the Krakow Philharmonic until the end of the anniversary 75th artistic season and during the summer months. The series will include 8 concerts that will take place from June to September. Each concert broadcast will be held on the Krakow Philharmonic website, Facebook page and YouTube channel.

Pruszcz Gdański | Art'n'Voices – we meet again

The Association of Young Artists of the Wejherowo Land invites you to the first concert of the vocal group Art’n’Voices after the quarantine, which will take place on 27 June 2020 at 8.00 p.m. in the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Pruszcz Gdański and will be streamed online.

The concert programme will include music from the latest Art'n’Voices album entitled Midnight Stories and other songs from their repertoire.

Midnight Stories is an album dedicated entirely to songs inspired by the theme of the night, composed by Paweł Łukaszewski, Krzysztof Komeda, as well as the atists of the young generation – Szymon Godziemba-Trytek, Zuzanna Falkowska, Anna Rocławska-Musiałczyk and Jakub Szafrański. The album was recorded at Ars Sonora Studio and was published by DUX. The premiere performance took place at the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdansk at the end of February 2020 and started the promotional concert series. After a four-month break, the ensemble resumes concerts and invites you to one of the oldest churches in Pomerania – the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Pruszcz Gdański.

Admission to the concert is free, but the number of places is limited.

Wigrosfera – Festival online

The Wigrosfera Festival, which will take place on 26 and 27 June 2020 in the Wigry National Park, is a sonic response to the natural human need for communing with nature and culture.

The festival concerts will be broadcast online from the stage located on the PTTK beach in Stary Folwark with a view of one of the most beautiful Polish lakes – Wigry in the Suwałki Region. The Festival aims at popularising classical Polish music and its latest achievements. Two days will feature four concerts presenting, among other, string trios by Karol Lipiński, contemporary works by Paweł Szymański and Krzysztof Penderecki, electric string quartet with synthesizers, electronic music and classical cello. By using latest innovative technologies, the organisers will transfer listeners to the multilayer world of contemporary art.

Among the performers will be Resina (Karolina Rec), NeoQuartet, Roshko Brothers and Voytek Proniewicz. The artists will also take part in the meetings held after the concerts. A special guest of the event will be composer Paweł Szymański.

The festival is co-financed by the National Centre for Culture as part of the "Culture on the web" programme and by the Podlaskie Voivodeship.

The Basilica of Our Lady of Licheń inivites you to the summer concerts on the unique Licheń organ which will be held three times a day (at 11.00 a.m., 1.30 and 8.00 p.m.), except Sundays, until 10 September 2020.

Jacek Hyżny, Maciej Wota, Piotr Kaczmarczyk, Paweł Opala, Dymitr Morozow, Sebastian Kuczyński, Roksana Kalinowska and Maciej Somerla will perform on the largest organ in Poland, designed by Andrzej Chorosiński. The instrument is composed of 5 independent sections, arranged in several places. The programme will include works of different eras and styles, compositions by Mikołaj from Kraków, Michał Kleofas Ogiński, Fryderyk Chopin, Mieczysław Surzyński, Feliks Nowowiejski, Michał Lorenc and organ improvisations on Polish church songs.

From 5 July, Marian priests will also invite listeners to concerts at 2.30 p.m. held as part of the 2nd International Organ Festival.
