Media patronage: Polish Music Information Centre POLMIC

The introduction to the celebration of the 90^th anniversary of birth of Henryk Mikołaj Górecki - a great composer and patron of the Silesian Philharmonic - will be a chamber concert in the place of his birth. It will take place on the 3^rd of December at 6.00 p.m. at the "Zameczek" Cultural Center in Czernica. This will be a unique prelude to the events scheduled for the 9^th of December - this time within the walls of the Silesian Philharmonic building.

During the concert in Czernica, baritone Jakub Burgieł will perform, accompanied by the String Quintet of the Silesian Chamber Orchestra. The artists will present songs the first of which will be Three Songs, an expression of Górecki's mourning for his mother - who died when the composer was only 2 years old. The rest of the concert will be an opportunity to listen to the string quartets Już się zmierzcha and Quasi una fantasia.

The world premiere of FreDro - a poem for a children's choir, symphony orchestra and puppet actors by Ewa Fabiańska-Jelińska with a libretto by Karolina Jefmańska is undoubtedly the most important musical event of 2023 with the participation of the Children's Choir of the Sudecka Philharmonic. A musical story for children told by children on the 2^nd of December, 2023 at 6.00 p.m. in Wałbrzych.

It is an unusual story, presented from the perspective of children, about man's selfish actions in nature, about human vices and positive traits. The literary basis of the work is, as the title of the poem indicates, characters from the texts, fairy tales and dramas of Aleksander Fredro, whose 230^th birthday we celebrate this year. The composition will be performed by the Sudecka Philharmonic Children's Choir led by Anna Kupczyńska, puppet actors - Piotr Starczak and Aneta Głuch-Klucznik, and the Sudecka Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra conducted by Agnieszka Franków-Żelazny.

The FreDro poem was co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from the Cultural Promotion Fund as part of the "Composer's Commissions" programme implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance.

On the 2^nd of December, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. in the Agnieszka Osiecka Music Studio of the Polish Radio (Myśliwiecka 3/5/7/) there will be Concert of Laureates of the 18^th Kazimierz Serocki International Composition Competition 2023. Free admission!

The concert will begin with Kazimierz Serocki's ‘Suite of Preludes’ performed by pianist Krzysztof Kozłowski.

After the award ceremony, we will hear the winners' works performed by Hashtag Ensemble: The Flow by Uri Brener (Israel), Encendiendo by Luca Vago (Italy) and ─ ~ minus ~ VII < Picture Book of Mist > by Masato Kimura (Japan).

The awards were funded by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

The Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań and the Polish Composers' Union would like to invite you to a concert as part of the "Poznań Composers and Their Guests" series, which will be held at the Academy on the 2^nd of December, 2023 at 7 p.m. Admission is free!

We will hear works by composers who belong to the Poznań and Wrocław branches of the Polish Composers' Union, performed by Mateusz Ryczek (electronics), Wojciech Jeliński (trombone) and Piotr Nowak (trumpet).

The programme includes Cezary Duchnowski's cROSSFAdE 4 for trombone, trumpet and electronics, Paweł Hendrich's Dualabilis III for trombone and computer, Mateusz Ryczek's Alchemy of Sound for trumpet and electronics, Michał Janocha's Chamber Music V for trombone, trumpet and electronics, Rafał Zapała's Hybryda for trumpet and electronics, and Katarzyna Taborowska-Kaszuba's Frottage for trombone and electronics.

Musicologist Julia Gołębiowska will lead the concert.

The Polish Society of Contemporary Music invites children aged 3-8 with their parents to the last free improvisation workshop this year, "Tell me a fairy tale", which will take place on Saturday, on the 2^nd of December, 2023 at 11.00 at the Warsaw Multimedia Library for Children and Youth no. XXXI (Tyniecka 40a). As usual, the schedule includes a lot of music, improvisation, playing instruments and fun.

The workshops will be led by improvisers: accordionist Bartosz Kołsut, double bassist Małgorzata Kołcz and composer and pianist Jarosław Siwiński.

In addition to playing with improvisations and books, children will learn various sound extraction techniques that highlight its colorful and dynamic qualities, and they will also be able to play the percussion themselves. Classes last approximately 90 minutes with a short break.

Participation in the workshops is free of charge - the number of places is limited, so prior registration of participants is required.
