Wrocław | Inauguration of celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław

An extraordinary jubilee concert inaugurating the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław, will take place in the Academy's concert hall on the 27th and 28th of October at 7 p.m. World-famous artists announced their participation in the concert: sopranos Aleksandra Kurzak and Joanna Zawartko, baritone Mariusz Godlewski and violinist Sara Dragan. They will perform with the accompaniment of the Academic Symphony Orchestra and the combined choirs of the Wrocław Academy of Music under the direction of Maestro Marek Pijarowski.

Fantazje. Zgiełk myśli by Dawid Aleksy Dorożyński for symphony orchestra, Te Deum by Antonín Dvořák, Rondo alla Polacca by Karol Lipiński and Bolero by Maurice Ravel will be performed.

Gdańsk | XII NeoArte - Synthesizer of Art Festival

Neoarte 23XII NeoArte - Synthesizer of Art is a festival that will present the most interesting trends in music and contemporary art in Gdańsk on October 26-29, 2023.

During the four days of events, audience will be able to participate in twelve multidisciplinary concerts and performances. Composition students will take part in composition workshops, and children and teenagers will be able to participate in classes introducing them to the fascinating world of contemporary art.

Almost each concert is planned as a multidisciplinary performance. Among the performers we will see both leading foreign artists (Jonathan Powell, Duo Voicetronics, Hyo-young Kim) and the most outstanding Polish ensembles and soloists (Martyna Zakrzewska, Flow Unit, Piotr Kaliński, Ensemble Kompopolex, Maja Miro, Ewa Liebchen).

Katowice | NOSPR, Alexander Liebreich and Garrick Ohlsson

On the 26th of October 26, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. in Katowice, recognized artists will perform works by Szymanowski, Lutosławski and Brahms. NOSPR will be conducted by Alexander Liebreich (former first conductor of the Orchestra and artistic director), and the winner of the 8th Chopin Competition - Garrick Ohlsson - will perform as a soloist.

Before the concert, at 6.30 p.m., we invite you to the chamber hall for a meeting with Róża Światczyńska, who will discuss the works performed that evening. Entry to the lecture is free of charge, but you can show your subscription card or concert ticket to participate in the lecture.

At a gala ceremony on the 23rd of October, 2023 at 7 p.m. at the Warsaw Philharmonic, the awards of the Polish music community Coryphaeus of Polish Music. The honorary award for lifetime achievement this year went to Irena Santor - the first lady of Polish song, performer of many unforgettable hits that make up the history of the Polish music scene.

Warsaw | Honorary Doctorate for Maestro Jerzy Maksymiuk

The world-famous conductor, pianist, composer - maestro Jerzy Maksymiuk will receive an honorary doctorate from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music. The ceremony will take place on the 25th of October, 2023 in the concert hall of the Fryderyk Chopin Acadenmy of Music in Warsaw at 11.00.

 The laudation will be delivered by Prof. Tomasz Bugaj, the dean of the Instrumental Faculty, Prof. Tomasz Strahl and the Dean of the Faculty of Symphony and Opera Conducting Prof. Rafał Janiak.

During the artistic part, the legendary conductor will lead the Chopin University Chamber Orchestra whereas Janusz Olejniczak will perform as a soloist.

They will perform Divertimento in B flat major, KV 287 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the second movement of the Concerto for Piano and Strings by Jerzy Maksymiuk himself.

Katowice | The musical fairy tale "The Friend Who Wasn't There"

The musical fairy tale "The Friend Who Wasn't There", based on the story "Lucjan. The Lion that Never Was” by Roksana Jędrzejewska-Wróbel is the result of cooperation between NOSPR and the ING Children Foundation. It will be presented again at NOSPR on the 25th of October, 2023 at 9.30 and 11.30.

The story of the main character helps the youngest confront the emotions that accompany them in experiencing life, especially in its most difficult moments. Adapting the plot for the needs of a musical performance is a joint step taken by NOSPR and the ING Children Foundation in order to create valuable and socially engaged productions for entire families.

The director-dramaturgical duo Sławomir Szczurek and Grzegorz Górny are responsible for the production of the performance.

The performance will be accompanied by music performed by Tomasz Herisz (percussion instruments), Anna Scheller (harp) and composer Przemysław Scheller (electronics). Anna Lis' songs will also be performed.

Warsaw | „Lab Libitum": IMPRO

"Lab Libitum" is a double amount of improvised music. On the 24th of October, 2023, at 7 p.m., recognized musicians from Poland and South Korea will perform in the Hashtag Lab. In the first part of the evening, at the invitation of the curators of the festival, multi-instrumentalist and composer Piotr Zabrodzki will perform, in the second part - performer and drummer Jihye Kim will be accompanied by members of Hashtag Ensemble: Ania Karpowicz, Lilianna Krych and Wojciech Błażejczyk.

Hashtag Lab is not only a place for workshops, concerts and exhibitions, but the only hub for contemporary music in Poland, whose mission is to connect musicians of different cultures and traditions. Thanks to cooperation with the Korean Culture Center, percussionist, performer and composer Jihye Kim will perform on Barska Street, whose fascination with Korean percussion instruments goes far beyond the area of ​​traditional music and is directed towards completely new forms of expression.

Before the concert at 6:00 p.m. there will be a vernissage of an exhibition of traditional Korean instruments, organized in cooperation with the Korean Center in Warsaw. On the 25th and 26th of October exhibition will be open from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Katowice, Cracow| 1933. Penderecki.Górecki: concerts of the Collegium Cantorum on the 90th anniversary of birth of the Masters

Penderecki.Górecki’ of the Collegium Cantorum choir conducted by Janusz Siadlak is a tribute to Krzysztof Penderecki and Henryk Mikołaj Górecki on the 90th anniversary of their births and to the composers' contribution to the development of Polish sacred a cappella music.

The concerts will take place: on the 23rd of October at 7:00 p.m. at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music and on the 25th of October, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. in the Church of St. Peter and Paul (ul. Grodzka 52a) in Cracow. Free entrance!

We will hear choral masterpieces by brilliant Polish composers during the October concerts of the Częstochowa Philharmonic Choir ‘Collegium Cantorum’, founded on the initiative of Janusz Siadlak, which he still directs today.

Warsaw | Laureates of the Koryfeusz Award will be announced on the 23rd of October

Koryfeusz 23The award ceremony of the Polish music community ‘Koryfeusz Muzyki Polskiej’ will take place on the 23rd of October, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. at the Warsaw Philharmonic. The anniversaries of outstanding composers: Witold Lutosławski, Krzysztof Penderecki and Henryk Mikołaj Górecki will be celebrated musically. During the evening, various faces of Polish music, both less and more famous, will be presented.

Statuettes by Prof. Adam Myjak will be awarded in four categories: Honorary Award, Discovery of the Year, Personality of the Year and Event of the Year.

Tickets are available on the website and at ticket offices at the Warsaw Philharmonic.

The event is organized by the National Institute of Music and Dance with funds from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage. The financial prize was funded by the ZAiKS Authors' Association.
