16. Leo Festival in NFM

Information about the event | Wrocław | 23 May 2025

The 16th Leo Festival, organized by the NFM Leopoldinum Orchestra, will take place from May 23 to June 1, 2025 in Wrocław under the theme “Music and Nature”. This year’s program will include 4 main concerts as well as performances in the “House Party with Leo” series.

Folk music has inspired artists such as Johannes Brahms, Béla Bartók, Sergei Prokofiev, and Pyotr Tchaikovsky to compose chamber masterpieces, which will be performed in the beautiful spaces of Topacz Castle on May 25. On the same day, outdoors, Beethoven's Sixth Symphony in F major "Pastoral", arranged for string orchestra by Michael Gotthard Fischer, will be performed, accompanied by a live electronic layer created by Antoni Grzymała.

A timeless hit – Le quattro stagioni by Antonio Vivaldi – will be performed by the NFM Leopoldinum Orchestra and one of the most original and boldest Polish ensembles, Bastarda Trio. The story of the eternal cycle of nature, based on the sonnets that serve as the poetic program for Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, will be illustrated at the NFM through musical fragments of the work and compositions written by the Bastarda Trio – Paweł Szamburski, Tomasz Pokrzywiński, and Michał Górczyński. The NFM Leopoldinum Orchestra will be joined by students from music academies in Poland.

The festival will conclude on June 1, with a concert on Children's Day, featuring works by the most famous child prodigy in music history – Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Together with the NFM Leopoldinum Orchestra, students from Wrocław’s first and second-degree music schools will perform.
