Implicit in the title of this year's 18th edition of the August Talent Festival ‘SYMETRIE 2024’ on August 20-20 2024 is its guiding idea. It refers to the Greek concept of commensurability as crucial to the expression of beauty. The festival, whose axis remains the concert events, evokes the idea of the connotation of the arts and is an invitation to perceive music with many senses.
In the inspiring interiors of the Contemporary Art Gallery of the Art Exhibition Office, the Theatre and Film Department of the Museum of the History of Katowice, the Academy of Fine Arts, the Silesian Branch of the Union of Polish Art Photographers, the Educational Centre of the Silesian Library and the Katowice City of Gardens Gallery, the artists will be close to the audience, thanks to whom aesthetic experiences will become more personal.
The concert at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice will be interactive. It assumes the co-creation of moods and emotions by the artists and the audience, and will involve drawing while listening to music. Families are invited to the House of Education of the Silesian Library; an artistic performance based on the literature of Stanisław Lem, enriched with music and elements of modern dance, will be staged. Polish violinists qualified for the Mieczysław Wajnberg International Violin Competition in Katowice have announced their participation in the festival. They will perform in the original space of the former flat of Mr and Mrs Barbara and Stanisław Ptak, now the Theatre and Film Department of the Katowice History Museum.
In this year's edition of the festival, the concerts will be preceded by curatorial tours of the exhibitions, starting a quarter of an hour before the musical events.
