The Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, the CV Music Foundation, in cooperation with the Association of Authors ZAiKS, invite you to participate in the 1st Marcin Błażewicz National Composition Competition "Dharma". The subject of the first edition of the competition for young composers is a chamber work for percussion (multi-percussion), mezzo-soprano, and piano, with a duration of up to 12 minutes. The deadline for submitting scores is October 15, 2025.
The use of percussion is a kind of tribute and recognition that the organizers wish to pay to its patron – Prof. Marcin Błażewicz. Percussion was the composer’s favorite medium of musical expression, and works featuring it have become a permanent part of the 20th-century music canon.
The competition is open to Polish composers (holding Polish citizenship or the Polish Card) who have not exceeded 25 years of age on the closing date of the competition.
No entry fee is charged for submitting a work.
Only original, unpublished, unperformed, and unrewarded works in other competitions may be submitted.
The competition is single-stage. The jury, consisting of renowned musical authorities, will select three compositions from the submitted scores, which will be awarded and premiered during the final concert held in the Concert Hall of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music.
The following prizes are planned:
- 1st prize – 5000 PLN, premiere performance, material prizes
- 2nd prize – 2000 PLN, premiere performance, material prizes
- 3rd prize – premiere performance, material prizes
