22nd Singer’s Warsaw Festival

Information about the event | Warszawa | 23 August 2025

The 22nd Singer’s Warsaw Festival, taking place from August 23 to 31, 2025, will blend tradition with modernity, raise questions about identity, and serve as a space for dialogue on Polish-Jewish heritage.

By bringing together outstanding artists, musicians, and writers from around the world, the festival will create a platform for openness, dialogue, and the shared discovery of the artistic legacy of Polish Jews.

The program will include both large concerts and intimate recitals, spanning from tradition to the avant-garde. Lech Majewski, the festival’s visual concept creator, will appear in a new role — as a musician. Among the performers are Monika Borzym, Izabella Szafrańska, Monika Chrząstowska, Ola Bilińska, Maniucha Bikont, Janusz Radek, Janusz Tencer, Symcha Keller, Darek Malejonek, and the Austrian Klezmer Connection Trio. A legend of klezmer music, Frank London — co-founder of the American group The Klezmatics and a Grammy Award winner — will appear in several projects, blending jazz and klezmer. Of particular note is his collaboration with the outstanding trumpeter Paul Brody.

The festival will also feature a unique performance by Raphael Rogiński, composer and guitarist, who in a solo project will present his original interpretations of traditional Jewish nigunim (melodies).

Katarzyna Drogosz will perform piano music by Jewish women composers, including Maria Szymanowska, preceded by a short lecture by Dr. Aneta Markuszewska.

The ensemble Nachum will showcase the works of Nachum Sternheim, a Jewish composer from Rzeszów whose music remains virtually unknown in Poland.

The trio Bastarda — Paweł Szamburski, Tomasz Pokrzywiński, and Michał Górczyński — will perform their own arrangements of 20th-century Polish film music, including works by Henryk Wars, Krzysztof Komeda, Wojciech Kilar, Zbigniew Preisner, Kazimierz Serocki, Krzysztof Penderecki, Waldemar Kazanecki, Lucjan Kaszycki, Michał Lorenc, and Jerzy Matuszkiewicz. The resulting musical journey will not only serve as a tribute, but also offer a fresh perspective on the timeless legacy of Polish cinema and its iconic soundscape.

The festival will conclude on September 1 with a special concert in the monumental setting of the Grand Theatre – National Opera. The internationally acclaimed Israeli countertenor, composer, and artist David D’Or will present his latest artistic project, accompanied by the renowned Sinfonia Viva Orchestra conducted by Tomasz Radziwonowicz.

The festival is co-financed by: the City of Warsaw, the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund – a state special purpose fund – under the “Music” program implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance; the Ministry of the Interior and Administration; the Foundation for Polish-German Cooperation; and the Embassy of Israel in Poland.
