24th International Festival “Kaleidoscope of Musical Forms in Memory of Maria Fołtyn”: Sopot – Suwałki

Information about the event | Sopot | 19 September 2025

The 24th International Festival “Kaleidoscope of Musical Forms in Memory of Maria Fołtyn”, which will take place from September 19 to October 5, 2025, in Sopot and Suwałki, draws upon the pre-war musical traditions of both cities. The festival program will include eight concerts, a four-day Masterclass for Singers in Suwałki, and the 3rd edition of the Sopot Morning Concerts for children and school youth.

The festival is organized by the Association of Friends of the Open Theatre in Gdańsk. For many years, festival concerts have been held in various venues across Sopot. The program of the 24th edition is designed to satisfy even the most demanding music lovers, with a repertoire carefully selected to appeal to diverse age groups and social communities—because nothing evokes the noblest emotions in people quite like music. The festival will feature works ranging from Baroque through Classicism and Romanticism to contemporary music, as well as lighter, popular compositions. It is a wonderful opportunity to explore the richness of Polish and international musical heritage, performed by both acclaimed artists and emerging talents.

Featured performers include: Accordion duo Duo Face2Face, Dariusz Wójcik – Director of the Open Theatre in Gdańsk – with the Szaweł Lipski Klezmer Quartet, Tenor Jacek Szymański, Organist Stanisław Maryjewski, Violinist Marcin David Król, French ensemble Duo ForteCello

On September 26, a concert titled "The Miracle on the Vistula" will take place to mark the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Warsaw, featuring Polish patriotic songs and poetry from various historical periods.

At the Sopot City Hall, mezzo-soprano Magdalena Cornelius-Kulig, flutist Ewelina Zawiślak, cellist Jan Kalinowski, and pianist Marek Szlezer will perform songs by Mieczysław Karłowicz, Stanisław Niewiadomski, Edward Pałłasz, as well as works by Aleksander Tansman, Erich Korngold, and Richard Strauss.

At the Sierakowski Manor in Sopot, a special concert titled "Canto amore mio" will take place to conclude the jubilee 10th edition of the Masterclass for Singers.

At the Evangelical-Augsburg Church of the Savior in Sopot, the final concert titled "Oseh shalom" will take place, featuring klezmer music performed by Dariusz Wójcik and the Israeli ensemble The Sound of Klezmer.
