The 35th International Festival of Young Music Competition Laureates, organized by Katowice City of Gardens – the Krystyna Bochenek Institution of Culture, will take place from October 5 to 26, 2025. During the jubilee edition, winners of prestigious music competitions held in Poland as well as in many other countries around the world – the hope of Polish contemporary music! – will perform. Admission to all concerts is free.
For 35 years, the Katowice festival has given young artists the opportunity to present repertoire that constitutes their artistic calling card and to interact with the audience. Concerts featuring young soloists and ensembles – the Jerzy Semkow Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra under the direction of Julian Gilewski and the "Archetti" Chamber Orchestra conducted by Łukasz Błaszczyk – form a colorful mosaic of casts and styles attracting audiences to the concert halls of the largest cultural institutions in Katowice: Katowice City of Gardens, the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music, NOSPR, as well as venues outside Katowice – the halls of the project’s co-organizers. This year, the festival will also be hosted at the Museum in Gliwice (Willa Caro), the Feliks Rybicki State Music School Complex in Tychy, in Jastrzębie-Zdrój (Palace in Borynia), and at the Paderewski Centre in Kąśna Dolna.
The repertoire of most concerts will include works by Polish composers: Fryderyk Chopin, Stanisław Moniuszko, Andrzej Panufnik, Janusz Wojtarowicz, Marcin Jabłoński, Wojciech Kilar, Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Edward Pałłasz, Stanisław Niewiadomski, Zygmunt Noskowski, and Henryk Wieniawski.
The festival is held under the honorary patronage of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage and the Mayor of Katowice. It has been co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund as part of the "Music" program implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
