The fourth edition of the Young Music Festival will once again promote Polish contemporary works, focusing on the presentation of young composers and artists associated with the Kuyavian-Pomeranian region and on cultivating the memory of Toruń's cultural creators. This year, most of the festival events are part of the celebration of the Year of Rafting in connection with the 110th anniversary of the unveiling of the rafter's monument in Toruń.
We will hear songs inspired by the old rafters' song Hej raftsman, child, which once rang out in the form of a chime from the town hall tower in Toruń. We will hear mainly contemporary, classical, electroacoustic and jazz music. There will be premieres and collaborations with artists and composers from other music centers in Poland. We will hear new compositions by: Ewa Fabiańska-Jelińska, Magdalena Cynk, Adam Falenta, Maria Krzemień, Maciej Jabłoński, Mateusz Ryczek, Jędrzej Rochecki, Michał Ossowski, Agnieszka Zdrojek-Suchodolska.
In addition to the concerts, there will be a meeting with the conductor, Agnieszka Franków-Żelazny, jazz music workshops, an exhibition dedicated to the memory of Alicja Piotrowska, a photographer well-known in Toruń, and the 2nd Young Talents Competition, which aim is to select interesting musical personalities from the Kuyavian-Pomeranian region. The festival will last from October 15, 2024 to October 25, 2024. Cappella Gedanensis Orchestra and Choir conducted by Rafał Kłoczko will perform at the inauguration concert.
The final concert will be honored by the Toruń Symphony Orchestra conducted by Wojciech Rodek. During the concerts, we will recall the extremely charismatic cultural animator, Agnieszka Dąbrowska, the unforgettable cellist, Paweł Pędrasik, and the unforgettable French horn teacher, Ksawery Walaszek. Recognized soloists and ensembles will perform, but above all, young people and children will show their talents and passions, inspired to work creatively during workshops and the 2nd Young Talents Competition.
The events will take place at the Artus Hall, the Od Nowa Academic Center for Culture and Art, the Music School and the Bierzgłowski Castle.
