The 6th Józef Ciepłucha International Academic Oboe and Bassoon Competition is organised by the Department of Wind Instruments of the Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in Łódź and "Muzyka do Potęgi" Foundation. This year's edition will be held on 26-29 April 2021.
The competition was initiated at the turn of the 1960s and 1970s in Włoszakowice. In the 1990s, the event was held in Sieradz as the National Competition of Oboists and Bassoonists, then as the International Academic Competition of Oboists and Bassoonists. In 2014, the competition was named after Józef Ciepłucha.
The event aims to to promote the best instrumentalists from Polish and foreign music academies. The competition is divided into two categories, oboe and bassoon. The programme includes works by Aleksander Tansman, Michał Spisak, Zdzisław Szostak, Jerzy Bauer, Grażyna Bacewicz, and Maciej Zieliński.
The Jury is composed of eminent musicians and pedagogues: Arkadiusz Krupa, Tomasz Miczka, Józef Raatz, Agata Piotrowska-Bartoszek, Krzysztof Kamiński, Artur Kasperek, Arkadiusz Adamczyk, and Katarzyna Zdybel-Nam. The Secretary of the Jury is Leszek Kołodziejski.
