The custodian of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Licheń, Fr. Sławomir Homoncik MIC, invites you to the concerts of the 7th International Organ Festival "Basilica Sonans", taking place from June 29 to August 31, 2025.
On Sundays in July and August at 2:00 PM, organists from Poland, Sweden, Germany, France, and Italy will perform. Admission to the recitals is free!
The opening concert on June 29 at 2:00 PM will feature organist Andrzej Chorosiński and the Licheń Basilica Choir "Stabat Mater" conducted by Jacek Hyżny.
During the following nine concerts, music will be performed on instruments located on five balconies of the basilica. The Licheń organ is the largest instrument in Poland and the fourth largest in Europe. A special console located in the altar section, equipped with six manual keyboards and a pedalboard, allows for the presentation and combination of all five instruments.
Performers will include: the organ duo Agnieszka and Jarosław Tarnawscy (Poznań), Roberto Bonetto (Verona), Johannes Skudlik (Munich), Karol Mossakowski (Paris), Axel Flierl (Dillingen), David Loefgren (Stockholm), Marek Stefański (Cracow), Bartosz Jakubczak (Warsaw), Rafał Sulima (Białystok).
Their programs will include works by composers from the early Baroque to contemporary times, including J.S. Bach, C.M. Widor, F. Liszt, W.A. Mozart, and H.J. Botor.
Several of the concerts will also feature organ improvisations on themes suggested by the audience – a unique experience where listeners witness a composition being created and performed live by the artist.
