The Piaseczno Cultural Center and the Art and Passion Foundation invite you to the 7th Witold Maliszewski Festival, which will take place in the Piaseczno Municipality from April 27 to June 1, 2025. Admission to all events is free!
For over twenty years, the Piaseczno Cultural Center has been organizing a series of classical music concerts (chamber and choral) in the churches of the Piaseczno deanery, accompanied by lectures dedicated to the history of these historic landmarks. In 2019, thanks to the initiative of musicians from the Camerata Vistula ensemble, the festival gained a patron – Witold Maliszewski, an outstanding composer and a resident of the Piaseczno Municipality. The main theme of the festival is the rediscovery of Maliszewski’s works, which are still relatively unknown to the general public. For its unique achievements, the festival received the "Pearls of Mazovia" award in the "Cultural Pearls" category for 2020.
The festival will open with a concert by the Camerata Vistula Chamber Ensemble, who will perform the music of the Festival’s Patron at the Church of Our Lady Help of Christians in Głosków. The program includes String Quintet Op. 3 and the Cello Suite Op. 20, recently rediscovered by Prof. Andrzej Wróbel and arranged for cello and string ensemble.
A concert featuring winners of international competitions – violinist Patrycja Szymańska and guitarist Adam Woch – will be held at the Church of St. Francis of Assisi in Prażmów.
This year, the Art and Passion Foundation, in cooperation with the Polish Composers’ Union, is also organizing the Witold Maliszewski National Composition Competition as part of the 7th Festival. The competition aims to commemorate the Festival’s Patron and celebrate the 100th anniversary of Zalesie Dolne. The winning compositions will be premiered by the Warsaw String Ensemble during a special anniversary concert at the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Zalesie Dolne. In addition, Aleksandra Resztik, soloist of the Warsaw Chamber Opera, will perform songs by Witold Maliszewski.
The Festival will conclude with a Children’s Day concert in the parish hall next to St. Anne’s Church in Piaseczno. Entire families will be able to actively participate in this event: they will learn about the techniques of playing the accordion, flute, guitar, and cajón, and try their hand at playing small percussion instruments themselves.
All concerts will be hosted by the well-known cultural animator and educator Malina Sarnowska.
