The Silesian Philharmonic invites you to a concert on February 7, 2025, at 7:00 PM to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Upper Silesian Tragedy, related to the Soviet Army’s entry into Upper Silesia at the beginning of 1945. The Silesian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and Choir, along with the Canto d’Oro children’s choir, conducted by Yaroslav Shemet and Jarosław Wolanin, will perform works by Gustav Mahler and the Silesian composer Józef Świder. The solo mezzo-soprano part will be performed by Maria Berezovska.
Mahler's Symphony No. 3 in D minor is one of the longest and most complex symphonies in the classical repertoire. Each of its six movements explores various aspects of nature, human experience, and spirituality, in line with Mahler's philosophical vision.
Józef Świder's Vocalisa Pax for female choir a cappella stands out with its meditative mood, leading the listener into a state of inner peace and reflection. Świder uses a variety of vocal techniques to create a transparent texture combined with a deep emotional expression.
