VIII CORNO – Brass Music Festival will take place on August 19–24, 2024, as always in Zielona Góra. During six concerts of a varied nature, the main roles will be played by brass instruments - French horn, trumpet, trombone, euphonium and tuba. Among the invited guests: Zielona Góra Philharmonic Orchestra, Michał Tomaszczyk Quartet and one of the most popular European big bands - Jazzrausch Bigband.
The program of this unique musical festival includes chamber and symphonic concerts, a film music concert, international instrumental workshops with the participation of approximately 90 young musicians, classes on healthy body posture, lectures, an exhibition of wind instruments and events open to the general public in several locations of Zielona Mountains.
The lecturers will be teachers from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, the Academies of Music in Gdańsk, Wrocław and Poznań, the Anton Bruckner University in Linz, the University of Music and Theater in Hannover, the Academy of Music in Basel and the Royal College of Music in London.
Some of the concerts will be the result of the work of the teaching staff with students, and some will be the result of cooperation between the artists themselves.
On August 21, the work Forbidden Emotions by Paweł Tomaszewski for horn quartet, piano and electronics will be premiered. It was created as part of the "Compositional Commissions" program implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance. It will be performed for the first time by the composer and the Hornet Quartet.
During the concert on August 23, we will hear performers playing almost all brass instruments as soloists! The Zielona Góra Philharmonic under the direction of Sebastian Perłowski will present, among others: Euphory Concerto by Adam Wesołowski for euphonium and string orchestra.
The creators and organizers of this year's edition are Łukasz Łacny and Maciej Baranowski, graduates of the State Music School in Zielona Góra.
