The cycle starts on January 3rd at 7pm at Grochowska 272 street. Its main theme is music composed after 1918. Every first Wednesday of the month from January to December Sinfonia Varsovia musicians will present pieces written by well-known Polish composers of the 20th century like Aleksander Tansman, Andrzej Panufnik and Wojciech Kilar. The organizers will also present music by forgotten composers like Szymon Laks or Mieczysław Wajnberg. The concerts will be hosted by musicologists and journalists known from the Polish Radio Program 2 such as Agata Kwiecińska and Mariusz Gradowski.
Sinfonia Varsovia string quintet, composed of concertmasters and orchestra leaders, will perform at the inaugural concert. We will hear Quintetto per archi by Krzysztof Penderecki, The Elements by Jan Stokłosa and Umbrae by Andrzej Kwieciński.
Admission to all concerts is free.
