The album Wiłkomirski, Szymanowski (Opus Series 127 | 2025) is dedicated to the works of outstanding Polish composers. Their compositions for cello and piano have been recorded by Jakub Grzelachowski and Michał Mossakowski. The album will be released on 19 December 2025, simultaneously on streaming platforms and in physical format.
The recording of works by Kazimierz Wiłkomirski (1900–1995) continues efforts commemorating the 30th anniversary of his passing, including a concert organized in March 2025 at the Academy of Music in Gdańsk. The album stems from a long-standing fascination with Wiłkomirski, whom the artists honor as both researchers and performers of his music.
The album features five miniatures by Wiłkomirski for cello and piano, full of lyricism and elegance. Grzelachowski and Mossakowski also recorded Karol Szymanowski’s Sonata in D minor, Op. 9 (originally composed for violin and piano) in Kazimierz Wiłkomirski’s arrangement for cello and piano, showcasing Wiłkomirski’s skill as an interpreter and editor.
