The Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Cracow invites you to a unique artistic event from December 16 to 21, 2024. As part of the artistic and scientific conference Stanisław Radwan. A Portrait Between Sound and Silence. On the 85th Anniversary of the Composer's Birth, a series of concerts, a discussion panel, an art exhibition, and a premiere film screening will take place. Admission is free!
The conference was conceived by cellist Dorota Imiełowska, and organized by the Department of Cello and Double Bass of the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Cracow, in collaboration with the European Institute of Art, Science, and Innovation. Stanisław Radwan was an alumnus of the Cracow Academy. The conference at his Alma Mater will feature unforgettable events: concerts presenting Radwan's film and theatrical compositions, memories shared by stars of Polish theater and the music scene, and an exhibition of works by acclaimed artists inspired by Radwan's music.
During the final concert, a world premiere will take place with a new version of Radwan's Płaskin for string quartet and solo cello. Thanks to the generosity of the Composer's wife, Mrs. Dorota Segda, Dorota Imiełowska discovered scores of works that will offer a unique experience for the audience.
The stage will feature well-known actors (including Jacek Romanowski, Ewa Kaim, Rafał Dziwisz), musicians (Dorota Imiełowska, DAFO Quartet, Rafał Jacek Delekta, Łukasz L. Pawlikowski, Mieczysław Mejza), as well as students from the Academy of Theatre Arts in Cracow and an orchestra composed of students and faculty from the Academy of Music in Cracow.
Memories of the Composer will be shared by Jerzy Illg, Barbara Świątek-Żelazna, and Zbigniew Paleta, among others.
The conference will conclude with the premiere of a musical film by Dorota Imiełowska and Tadeusz Ignacy Oratowski titled Stanisław Radwan. A Portrait Between Sound and Silence. The film will be sent to approximately 150 cultural centers worldwide. The film project was realized with support from the Małopolska Voivodeship.
In addition to the music, the exhibition space of the Szalom Gallery in Cracow will feature paintings inspired by the music of Stanisław Radwan. The artists include Agnieszka Pramayer, Agnieszka Safińska, Stanisław Jaworek-Czerkiz, and Romuald Kułakowski. During the opening, music will be performed on old Polish instruments – suka biłgorajska, fidel płocka, and cello. This event will also mark the 30th anniversary of the Szalom Gallery in Cracow.
