Andreas Brantelid is today one of the most sought-after and acclaimed Scandinavian cellists. On December 1, 2024, at 6:00 PM, he will perform with the NFM Leopoldinum Orchestra, conducted by Alexander Sitkovetsky, at the NFM. The soloist will perform Kurt Atterberg's Double Concerto for Violin, Cello, and String Orchestra and Mieczysław Weinberg's Concertino for Cello and Strings.
Mieczysław Weinberg composed the Concertino in 1948, during the period of Stalinist repression. The emotions of those days are reflected in the dramatic sound layer of the piece.
The program will also include compositions by P. de Sarasate, F. Price, and E. Grieg. The soloists will include violinist Diana Cel and pianist Tomasz Śliwowski. Their performance is part of the “NFM Promotes” program, which supports young artists from Lower Silesia and is organized in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the National Forum of Music.
