One of the most inspiring and extraordinary concerts of the 14th International Festival of G. G. Gorczycki, which takes place under the slogan "Up and reach the places out of sight", will take place on 16 November 2019 at 6 p.m. at the Chorzów Cultural Center.
International Festival of Grzegorz Gerwazy Gorczycki is an event that has permanently entered the artistic calendar of Silesia. For many years, it has been consistently building its image through a unique repertoire, the participation of excellent artists and the interest of several thousand listeners.
On 16 November, the world-famous soloist Steven Mead (Great Britain), playing the beautiful-sounding euphonium instrument, will visit Poland for the first time to premiere the first concert in the history of Polish music on the euphonium – Adam Wesołowski's Euphonia Concerto. We will also listen to the Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 in G major by Johann Sebastian Bach in the "industrial version", i.e. using the sounds recorded in the steel mill, arranged by Adam Wesołowski. This performance will correspond with his Industrial Symphony for string orchestra and multimedia, which combines tradition with modernity. The programme will also include Adam Wesołowski's Encore Concerto for flute and string orchestra, performed by the well-known Polish flautist Łukasz Długosz.
The soloists will be accompanied by the Silesian Chamber Orchestra – a bravura artistic ensemble of the Silesian Philharmonic, which has gained recognition on the international stage. The orchestra works under the direction of both violin virtuoso and conductor Robert Kabara.
Media patronage: Polish Music Information Centre POLMIC.
