"Compass Music Studies" – a new project by the German Music Information Centre

The German Music Information Centre (Deutsches Musikinformationszentrum) has launched a new platform, "Compass Music Studies" – a unique online service presenting over 1,700 music degree programmes in Germany at universities of music and arts, universities of applied sciences (Fachhochschulen), and private institutions.

The platform was created for prospective students interested in music education in Germany, including international students looking for guidance in the broad and diverse landscape of German higher education. Users can precisely search for options by field of study, instrument, degree type, or location, as well as browse programmes covering a wide range – from artistic training and music education to teacher training and musicology.

The German Music Information Centre is the main source of information on musical life in Germany. Since its establishment in 1998, this organisation—functioning within IAMIC much like POLMIC—has been helping in navigating the rich German musical landscape. It creates databases, provides information online, and issues print publications.
