The 19th edition of the Festival of Polish Music consists of five consecutive July weekends filled with carefully selected Polish music from the 16th to the 20th century, supplemented with masterpieces of world music, all performed by recognized artists from around the world. Between the 1st and 29th of July 2023 we will hear, among others: works by Józef Michał Poniatowski, Fryderyk Chopin and Ignacy Jan Paderewski, masterpieces for the baroque lute, as well as the most beautiful arias from rarely performed 19th-century Polish operas.
During the inauguration we will hear i.a. Piano Concerto No. 1in E minor, Op. 11 by Fryderyk Chopin (the Hungarian piano virtuoso János Balázs as the soloist) and the Serenade Op. 2 by Mieczysław Karłowicz performed by Sinfonietta Cracovia conducted by Maciej Tworek
Performance of the finalist of the 16th Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition in Poznań will be an extraordinary event. 21-year-old Dayoon You from South Korea will perform works by Henryk Wieniawski, Ignacy Jan Paderewski and Witold Lutosławski.
