The year 2025 is a year of jubilees for the European Centre for Music of Krzysztof Penderecki in Lusławice: the 20th anniversary of the institution, the 45th anniversary of the first of the private Chamber Music Festivals "Lusławice – Dwór," and the 5th anniversary of the death of its Patron. On this day, March 29, at 6:00 PM, one of the most important works of the Master – Credo, composed in Lusławice – will be performed by distinguished artists under the direction of Maciej Tworek.
"I did not break my bond with God precisely because of music. I wrote so much of it that I can say that through it, I also remain a believer. (...) that through my music, I remained faithful. Something that was important proved itself in my life. And my sacred music attracts even non-believers," said Krzysztof Penderecki.
The text of Credo is supplemented by prayers, hymns, and traditional church songs, which serve as an emotional commentary, bringing a deeply human, intimate expression. On this evening, we will also hear the Chaconne from the Polish Requiem, composed 20 years ago.
The works will be performed by the Choir and Symphony Orchestra of the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music, along with the Boys’ Choir of the Cracow Philharmonic. The soloists will include: Iwona Hossa (soprano), Izabela Matuła (mezzo-soprano), Anna Lubańska (alto), Adam Zdunikowski (tenor), and Łukasz Konieczny (bass).
"Identity" – the theme of this year's events organized by the Lusławice Centre for Music – allows a deep dive into the wide-ranging relationships and dependencies that define the essence of Penderecki's work and the ideas realized in the institution founded by the artist 20 years ago.
