Częstochowa | 75 Years of the Bronisław Huberman Philharmonic
The 75th anniversary year of the Częstochowa Philharmonic will culminate with a gala concert on 20 March 2020 at 7:00 p.m. The programme will consist of works related to the Philharmonic itself and to Częstochowa, as well as the premiere of Adam Klocek's In Paradisum.
Since the patron of the Philharmonic is the violin virtuoso Bronisław Huberman, born in Częstochowa, the obvious repertoir choice was a violin concerto written by Polish composer. We will listen to the Second Violin Concerto in D minor, Op. 22 by Henryk Wieniawski, often performed and recorded on disc by Huberman. It will be performed will Mariusz Patyra, called the Polish Paganini, who has often participated in the Bronisław Huberman Violin Festival.
The Symphony Orchestra of the Częstochowa Philharmonic will be conducted by Adam Klocek, who wrote a composition especially for the occasion and thereby will debute at the Częstochowa Philharmonic as a composer. The anniversary evening will begin with the Orawa symphonic poem by Wojciech Kilar – outstanding artist sentimentally related to Częstochowa, which he often emphasized during his visits to Jasna Góra. The concert will also feature the sublime Te Deum by Antonín Dvořák, performed by the Częstochowa Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and the Collegium Cantorum Częstochowa Philharmonic Choir, as well as the soloists – soprano Ewa Biegas and baritone Robert Gierlach.
