The Polish Society for Contemporary Music cordially invites children and their parents to the family improvisation workshops "Tell Me a Fairy Tale". The event will take place on Friday, May 15, 2026 at 5.00 pm at the "MAL Spotykalnia - Neighborhood Library" Community Activity Center (Bemowo Gallery, 126 Powstańców Śląskich St., Warsaw) and will be hosted by harpist Agata Galik-Sosnowska, composer and pianist Jarosław Siwiński, and actor and director of children's plays Grzegorz Ociepka. Admission free.
The program includes plenty of music, improvisation, and intelligent play with sounds and books. Participants will learn, among other things, various techniques for extracting sound from instruments that highlight their color and dynamic qualities, and will also be able to play various percussion instruments themselves.
The classes are addressed to children aged 3-10 (including special-needs music lovers) and their parents, and will last approximately 90 minutes with a short break.
The main idea of the classes is to combine graphically inspired improvisations: first literary and then musical. Children create their own stories based on the presented picture books. These improvised fairy tales are then, under the guidance of the teachers, "translated" into the language of music. Creative contact with literature and music, facilitated by playful graphics and the creation of simple stories, allows children to enter the world of sounds, drawing on their natural creativity.
The workshops are a part of the project "Creative Warsaw" by Polish Society for Contemporary Music, and are co-financed by the City of Warsaw.
