Feliks Konopasek Composition Competition for a concert wind orchestra

The National Institute of Music and Dance invites composers to participate in the Feliks Konopasek Composition Competition for a concert wind orchestra. The deadline for submitting applications along with scores is September 15, 2025.

This is a new initiative, part of efforts to support and popularize the activities of Polish wind orchestras, launched by the National Institute of Music and Dance with last year's nationwide scientific conference "Conducting Wind Orchestras – Perspectives for Professional and Artistic Development." The goal of the competition is to create valuable artistic, educational, and concert-ready compositions that can become a permanent part of the repertoire of both professional and amateur Polish wind ensembles.

The patron of the competition is Feliks Konopasek (1860–1930) – a Polish composer, conductor, educator, and activist, who made significant contributions in various fields, including the amateur music movement.

The total prize fund for the competition is 20,000 PLN. A special prize, in the form of the premiere performance of the winning composition, is also planned.

Applications for the competition must be submitted electronically by sending the application form and score to the email address: muzykapolska@nimit.pl. The results of the competition will be published on the Institute's website by October 15, 2025.
