The Polish Society for Contemporary Music invites the public to a concert summarizing the latest edition of the “Don’t Be Afraid to Improvise!” workshop series, attended by students of the Karol Kurpiński State Primary Music School No. 4 in Warsaw. The performance will take place at the school on 22 November 2025 at 1:00 PM. Admission is free!
Under the guidance of double bassist Małgorzata Kołcz and composer–pianist Jarosław Siwiński, the young musicians developed their artistic skills and discovered new reserves of creativity. Both instructors, who have long applied their own original teaching methods, promote the idea of introducing children to improvisation, working with young students across Poland. Participants broadened their artistic horizons by exploring alternatives to the all-pervasive mass culture, opening themselves to contemporary music, and—equally importantly—learning mutual respect, cooperation, and independence in thought and action.
The final concert will feature both the workshop participants and their instructors. The audience will hear compositions created by the young musicians—works that may, in the future, contribute to the world of contemporary music.
The workshops are held as part of the “Creative Warsaw” program run by the Polish Society for Contemporary Music and co-financed by the City of Warsaw.
