Gdańsk | 7th "Gdańsk Pianists for the City" Festival
On May 27 – June 2, 2019, the Baltic Sea Cultural Center invites you to the 7th "Gdańsk Pianists for the City" Festival, which enables Gdańsk pianists, mainly students of the Gdańsk piano school, to perform in front of a wide audience.
Among the performers are former and present students as well as pedagogues of the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk, graduates of music schools in ithe city and Gdańsk artists who continue their education and career in various institutions in the country and abroad. The idea of the festival is to promote and support musicians in their creative endeavours.
This year's edition will include five spectacular piano concerts in the Gdańsk Old Town Hall: "Great Russian composers", "Around Romanticism", "Youth on the Gdańsk stage", "Around Polish Music". The latter concert will feature works by Fryderyk Chopin, Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Karol Szymanowski and Artur Malawski. The culmination of the festival will be a recital of an outstanding piano virtuoso – Bogdan Czapiewski, professor of the Gdańsk Academy of Music. The festival will also include popular science lectures on classical music and piano performance practice.
