"Idyll, Longing, and Rebirth" will be the main theme of the November Symphony Concert at the Opole Philharmonic. The Opole Philharmonic conducted by Norbert Twórczyński will present a concert on November 29, 2024, at 7:00 PM, featuring works by Richard Wagner, Siegfried Wagner, and Mieczysław Karłowicz. These pieces powerfully reflect the composers' emotions of idyll, longing, and rebirth.
The concert will begin with Siegfried Idyll by Richard Wagner, composed as a gift for his wife, Cosima, following the birth of their son, Siegfried. The piece will be followed by Sehnsucht (Longing), another work by Wagner, which explores the theme of yearning.
The evening will conclude with the monumental Symphony "Rebirth" Op. 7 by Mieczysław Karłowicz. This symphony, composed between 1902 and 1903, is the only symphonic work by Karłowicz, and it takes the listener on a journey filled with dramatic twists and profound emotions. It is a musical reflection on life, death, and the hope for rebirth. The symphony blends inspirations from both German music and Slavic folk traditions, making it a truly unique work in the symphonic repertoire.
Tickets are available through the Opole Philharmonic's box office and online.
