The 2nd Ignacy Jan Paderewski International Festival, held on the 155th anniversary of its patron’s birthday, will take place in Warsaw between 6th and 12th of November 2015 in the Warsaw Philharmonic, Lutosławski Concert Studio of Polish Radio, Royal Castle, Polish Theatre, Royal Łazienki, and Fryderyk Chopin University of Music. The programme includes symphonic, chamber and jazz concerts, as well as discussion panels, film screenings, and exhibitions. The artists invited to participate in the event come from Australia, Switzerland, USA, Majorca, and Poland.
The official opening of the Festival organized by the “Ave-Arte” Foundation will be attended by the Mayor of the City of Warsaw Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz. The concert held in the Polish Theatre will feature Feliks Nowowiejski’s Rota and Ignacy Jan Paderewski’s works (Hej, Orle biały and Nad wodą bystrą i czystą) performed by the University of Warsaw Choir. Soprano Katarzyna Laskowska and tenor Rafał Bartmiński will present fragments of Paderewski’s opera Manru, followed by the performance of pianist Wojciech Kocyan, professor at the Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, who will interpret Paderewski’s Humoresques de Concert, Op.14, Nocturne in B flat major, Op. 16 No. 4 and compositions by Fryderyk Chopin.
